Keiretsu Forum Silicon Valley
We are pleased to announce the launch of Keiretsu Forum Silicon Valley. The inaugural meeting will be held on October 15th, 7:30am-Noon at the offices of Fenwick & West LLP in Mountain View.
Founded in September 2000, Keiretsu Forum now has eight chapters in: Northern California (San Francisco East Bay and Silicon Valley), Southern California (Westlake Village and Long Beach), Hawaii/Pacific Rim, Boston/New England, Chicago/Midwest and Calgary, Canada. Our mission is “Great Association with Quality Deal Flow”.
Our network of chapters enables:
- Support of our portfolio companies and presenting entrepreneurs with equity and resources in different capital markets,
- Building additional quality deal flow for our members in different geographical locations,
- Our investor members enjoy collaborative business and social relationships among chapters,
- Contribution to the economic development of the given regions.
Why Silicon Valley?
The San Francisco East Bay chapter is the founding chapter of Keiretsu Forum with 150 investor members and over 40 portfolio companies funded in the past four years. Located in about a 30-mile radius around San Jose, in Northern California, Silicon Valley is known as "High-Tech Heaven."
There is a very strong potential in collaboration between the East Bay and Silicon Valley chapter, both on the aspect of “Great Association” i.e. membership and “Quality Deal Flow” i.e. high quality diverse investment opportunities. Whether an idea starts in a garage, is scratched out on a napkin in a local restaurant, or born in the university research centers, new businesses are born here every day.
Based on the results of the PwC Q2’04 MoneyTree Survey, Silicon Valley remains the #1 area for investment in Q2’04, getting 38% of the investment dollars. Silicon Valley is defined as Northern California, bay area and coastline

Growth Plan
Keiretsu Forum has monthly meetings in most of its chapters. As membership and deal flow increase, the Silicon Valley chapter will begin with monthly meetings at the beginning of 2005. The chapter will be limited to 150 accredited investor members.
A sizeable percentage of Keiretsu Forum’s deal flow comes from its members. The Silicon Value chapter is also executing a comprehensive affiliate program with Silicon Valley’s leading venture capital and investment companies. The goal of this ongoing collaboration is to share the Keiretsu model with the investing community, increase joint due diligence and validation of various technology opportunities.
Silicon Valley is a home to a number of higher education institutions, such as Stanford and the UC Berkeley Extension. Each of these institutions has an office of technology transfer. An abundance of technology deals reside within these institutions.
Keiretsu Forum Silicon Valley is now providing new, local opportunities for entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley to access resources, mentorship, and capital and increase their chances for success in a competitive global economy.
