Lucky Litter LLC

Company Background
Scoop Free by Lucky Litter is a self-cleaning litter box you can leave alone for up to thirty days. Using litter tray cartridges filled with Clorox’s Fresh Step brand litter, Scoop Free offers superior odor control and convenience. Just tilt-up the Scoop Free box and slide in the litter tray cartridge. Now leave your litter box alone for up to 30 days! That’s right: there is nothing to fill, empty or clean for up to one month per cat. The Scoop Free litter box automatically rakes waste into a covered trap after each use, leaving the litter clean, dry and odor free. After 30 cat days, simply throw out the entire litter tray cartridge and insert a new one. Scoop Free litter tray cartridges are convenient, sanitary and environmentally friendly.

Progress since Lucky Litter presented to Keiretsu Forum

  • Raised ~ $1.8 million ($1.6 million in cash, $200,000 in services);
  • Signed deal with Clorox to license their Fresh Step brand name;
  • Successfully completed in-home consumer trials. Cats like our box, cartridge and litter;
  • Started Asian production. Production units will ship this summer;
  • Negotiating Purchase Orders with two national retailers.
Market
Applica (NYSE: APN) sold ~ 800,000 Littermaid brand automatic litter boxes last year. Despite a 30% return rate in certain channels, their sales are growing 25% annually. Competitor Stylette is selling 1,800 units per week at PETsMART. This is 100,000 units in their first year... at only one retailer… without a brand name like Clorox or Fresh Step… or the marketing program that will support Scoop Free. The Company believes a portion of the 35 million US households that own pet cats will buy Scoop Free litter boxes and cartridges because of superior convenience and reliability. Then they will purchase another one or two litter tray cartridges every month. By packaging kitty litter in easy-to-handle disposable containers, Scoop Free will capture a substantial share of the $1.2 billion US litter market.

Unique Differentiators
  • World’s first litter box that can be left alone for up to 30 days;
  • Strategic partnership with Clorox and exclusive license to use Fresh Step brand name on products;
  • Patents pending on kitty litter cartridge and superior litter box mechanics;
  • Whisper quiet motor and operation;
  • Designed by cat lovers… good for people… great for cats!
